Ripley
Despite having painted and drawn hundreds of almost-identically coloured Hungarian Vizslas over the past ten years, I am still surprised by how unique each one looks, and Ripley is no exception. They have such incredibly expressive faces, I think they can possibly covey more with their expressions that some people can!
I altered Ripley’s view slightly from her reference photograph to focus her portrait a little more, but otherwise I worked completely from this one photograph as it had such great lighting and really seemed to show her character.
Watch a time-lapse of Ripley’s portrait.
Ripley’s portrait was drawn with Faber Castell Pitt pastel pencils on Daler Rowney Ingres pastel paper, and measures 10″ x 8″ / 25 x 20cm
